But in his portfolio are other course-altering gems like this. When a PTSD-riddled late 70s Omega was in dire need of reinvention, Genta was enlisted to help set a new path. Launched in 1981, this was a bold slice of Omega history for against-the-grain creativity and metallurgic innovation, evolving into the “pre-Bond” SMP 200M and beyond. Features an integrated bracelet and 2mm thick 18k gold inlay, so seamlessly fused into the steel case it’s downright sorcery. Omega never revealed the secret to how this was done, and probably never will. This version is a 12-hour, 1\/10 second, split-timing chronograph; the most complicated analog quartz Polaris. When everyone is wearing the usual sports suspects, strap on something they’ve never seen, with real character, and a conversation piece as much as it is a sports piece.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCONDITION:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e9\/10; barely visible signs of use, mostly on the bracelet. One light scuff at 12:30, just shy of the gold inlay. Dial and crystal are 99% clean with a few microscopic specks. Tritium lume plots intact, respond to UV correctly for age, with lovely patina. Caseback has hairlines with crisp engravings. Bracelet has zero stretch and full structural integrity. Movement in excellent health and quartz-accurate.
