Cartier Ceinture Deux Ors 18K White & Yellow Gold Small Ref. 7821 (circa late-1970s)

WHY WE CURATED IT:
French jeweller Cartier was once 3 distinct operations (Paris, New York & London), each run by one of the 3 Cartier brothers doing their own thing with their own quirks and style preferences. They were operationally unified in 1979 with a single design ethos and production, leading up to La Maison’s Swiss manufacture we know today. This seldom-seen Ceinture dates to around that unification and was signed Paris, suggesting French production origin and distribution, as well as an intentional reminder of the brand’s heritage as it went singularly global. These 1970s Ceintures were made for a short 3-4 years as a discreet part of the Louis Cartier Collection, less common in double 18K gold execution (“Deux Ors”), NOT steel and gold, and even less common in this condition! The design uniqueness of this model speaks for itself with the stepped square case with cut-off corners to effectively become an octagonal shape. Also one of very few Cartiers with a cut-out in the bezel to accommodate a hexagonal crown sans cabochon both to protect it, as well as to protect purity of line. Special, stunning and a true delight on the wrist. Serviced and warrantied.

CONDITION:
9.5/10 with minimal hairlines. Overall very sharp and clean, looks to be unpolished. Crystal, hands and printing are pristine. Lacquer Mk III dial surface has reassuring barely-visible spidering to indicate period-correctness matching the Paris signature. Caseback engravings and hallmarks are crisp and clear. New aftermarket strap with authentic Cartier buckle. Movement serviced with a 6-month warranty and in perfect health with over-spec power reserve, excellent amplitude, low beat error and accurate to ±5 secs/day averaged from 6 timegrapher positions.
