WHY WE CURATED IT: We’ve had quite a few Santos Carrées, but this is our first Galbée. Despite Carrées being more popular as an earlier and purer expression of Cartier’s first square integrated sports watch, I’ve always personally preferred Galbées for the curved case and bracelet links that make for a truly sublime and comfortable wearing experience. This still has all the lineage that make it a true collectible… coming from the line that was Cartier’s first-ever steel watches, the first men’s wrist watch and first pilot’s watch. Compact but bold thanks to the 18K solid gold bits and a beautifully creamy patinated dial that’s positively dripping with charm. Daily elegance for any occasion and sure to elevate any outfit dressy or casual. It’s the IYKYK choice and we absolutely love it!
CONDITION: 9/10 with minimal signs of wear. Mostly shallow hairlines and microscopic nicks only. No signs of excessive refinishing with broad chamfers, sharp lines and clean finishing transitions. Most importantly, the solid gold bezel remains thick, tall and upright with bezel screws still clearly recessed. Curved crystal and hands are clean. Creamy grained dial has developed a lovely patina. Caseback engravings remain clear. Gen 1 bracelet has negligible stretch. Movement in good health and quartz-accurate.
