WHY WE CURATED IT: We’ve had several Longines Octagons before. A timeless, classical and super elegant style in different sizes, dials, lug versions and aspect ratios. They’ve been extremely popular, often selling out immediately. Almost all of them had roman numerals but this is only the second unit we managed to land in this case variant with a black dial and those exquisite gilt Breguet numerals (a typography style so famously popularised by Breguet that an entire industry has adopted the name). This particular version has a case variant that’s longer than it is wide, with crab claw/rear-hooded lugs, feuille hands and cabochon-ed crown. We’ve seen other examples of this before, but this is only the second one we’ve seen in a condition that we’re happy with. Serviced and warrantied. CONDITION: 9/10, with some minimal shallow hairlines and micro-nicks. Gilt dial printing and lacquered dial are pristine, with no spidering. Hands have very slight aging. Crown cabochon immaculate. Crystal has microscopic marks visible only under a loupe. New aftermarket strap with Longines buckle. Movement serviced with 6 months warranty and in excellent health, with over-spec power reserve, high amplitude, low beat error and accurate to ±5 secs/day averaged from 6 timegrapher positions.
