Longines Octagon Wire Lugs “Black Breguet” Ultra Rare FULL SET Ref. 5097 (circa 1970s)

WHY WE CURATED IT:
We’ve had several Longines Octagons before and they’ve all been very popular. Understandably so! A timeless, classical and super elegant style in different sizes, dials, lug versions and aspect ratios. A bit less common among them are these perfectly symmetrical versions (in width and length) with wire lugs. Especially so with inky black lacquer dials and gilt Breguet numerals… the first one we’ve found that meets our condition and authenticity requirements! But the highlight here is that this comes with a full full set.… the original brocade Longines monogram box, instruction manual, Longines booklet sleeve, warranty certificate and even the Longines advertisement/leaflet for this model range! If you know us, you’d know we’re reluctant to use the word “rare” and are practically allergic to its overuse and abuse. But in this case, the presence of a beautifully preserved, complete set like this is nothing short of ultra rare! A must-have for keen collectors and fans of Longines Octagons! Serviced and warrantied.

CONDITION:
9.5/10, with minimal fine hairlines and micro-nicks. Gilt dial printing, hands and lacquered dial are pristine, with no spidering. Original signed crown. Crystal has microscopic marks visible only under magnification. New aftermarket strap and buckle. Movement serviced with 6 months warranty and in good health, with near-spec power reserve, moderate amplitude, low beat error and accurate to ±5 secs/day averaged from 6 timegrapher positions.
