Montblanc Profile White Dial Ref. 7047 (circa early 2000s)

WHY WE CURATED IT:
We tend to think of Montblanc as a renowned maker of fine writing instruments. However, aficionados know that Montblanc is a multi-category luxury brand from writing instruments (starting 1906 in Berlin, Germany), to fine leather goods (as early as 1924 but cemented by setting up operation in Italy), to highly respected timepieces (from 1997 in the watchmaking centre of Le Locle, Switzerland). The brand’s horological chops were deepened by its 2006 acquisition of Minerva, a heritage titan of watchmaking from 1858 (famous for its chronographs, pilot’s watches and timing instruments). The watch we have here was Montblanc’s first-ever rectangular watch. A striking, sculptural, architectural piece with an elegant juxtaposition of angular lines and sweeping curves intersecting in fresh and surprising ways (check out that side profile!). It’s an under-appreciated gem, which makes us love it more, especially given the incredible value it brings. A lovely piece that’s elegant yet bold, curvaceous yet geometrical, sporty yet dressy. A fine pick for those who understand versatility and quiet luxury!

CONDITION:
9.5/10, without much signs of use, just a few hairlines, no nicks/dents. Crystal, dial and hands are pristine. Caseback engravings deep and sharp. Original signed crown featuring the Montblanc white star logo (representing the snow-capped peak of Mont Blanc seen from directly above).  New aftermarket custom handmade strap and buckle, along with original strap (poor condition) and original Montblanc buckle included. Movement in excellent health and quartz-accurate.
