Omega Constellation C Gold-Capped Day-Date “Champagne Linen” Ref. 168.029 (circa 1969)

WHY WE CURATED IT:
Much has been said about this landmark Omega Constellation C-Case model line by Gerald Genta. Naturally, we too have much to say about it, so we’ve compiled our research into a deep-dive tribute in a new Articles section on this website. The variant here is a pretty early model from 1969 and well on its way to turning 60! With a beautiful gold-capped case, solid gold bezel, a champagne frosty/linen dial and second generation slim faceted indices with black inlays. A very sumptuous presentation, and fitted with an aftermarket gold-toned mesh bracelet, also dripping with vintage vibes. A very evocative piece with the look and feel of “old gold” and a real time machine to the 60s. A real stunner, this one. Serviced and warrantied.

CONDITION:
8.5/10 with some hairlines and micro-nicks. Case has been polished in the past with some mild rounding of edges but chamfers and lines are still present and palpable. Solid gold fluted bezel remains very sharp. Dial, hands and indices are beautifully pristine. Tritium lume plots intact and respond to UV correctly for age, with the lume plots on the hands patinated to perfect match the tone of the dial. Original Omega-signed crystal has microscopic marks visible only under a loupe. Original signed crown. Aftermarket mesh bracelet with free-adjusting tuck buckle looks almost brand new. Movement serviced with 6 months warranty returning good performance, with near-spec power reserve, adequate amplitude, low beat error and accurate to ±20 secs/day averaged from 6 timegrapher positions.
