WHY WE CURATED IT:
The De Ville line holds a special place in Omega history. Originally a sub-collection of the Seamaster range, it diverged into a standalone line by 1967, offering refined pieces within the brand’s increasingly sport-oriented catalog. Over time, it even became the platform for many Omega firsts, such as their first co-axial escapement and first anti-magnetic central tourbillon. Here we have an example that is at once avant-garde and elegant. At a glance reminiscent of the distilled simplicity of a Cartier Pebble but viewed in 3 dimensions, is more akin to a 70s notion of a UFO (hence “Disco Volante”, Italian for “flying saucer”). Thin, complex in planes (just check out that caseback), and sure to elevate any OOTD. In great condition with thick 40-micron gold plating! Serviced and warrantied.
CONDITION:
9.5/10, with minimal hairlines from honest careful wear over the last 5 decades, and even then mostly on the caseback. High-polish chamfered edges remain broad and catch the light. Original Omega-signed crystal and crown are pristine, as are the dial, hands and indices. Barely-used aftermarket strap and buckle. Movement serviced with a 6-month warranty and in strong health with over-spec power reserve, excellent amplitude, low-to-moderate beat error and accurate to ±45 secs/day averaged from 6 timegrapher positions.
