WHY WE CURATED IT:
Genève models are some of the best value Omegas. Initially a flagship dress line in the 50s, Genèves took a backseat in the 60s as Speedmasters/Seamasters rose to fame. But Omega kept iterating and by the late 60s–70s, were experimenting with various shapes and formats, such as this hidden gem “integrated bracelet” model with hints of Royal Oak/Ingenieur/222/Nautilus/Oysterquartz/Laureato, yet pre-dates all of them! Perhaps this was the one that helped establish a template that others followed. Love the brutalist styling, monochromatic colourway and both the wrist experience and presence. Equipped with a fairly modern automatic Cal. 1481, robust and dependable, serviced and warrantied. Dripping with a very particular 70s zeitgeist charm and in the best condition for this format we’ve ever found.
CONDITION:
9/10, with just light hairlines, very well preserved for a watch over half a century old. The best we’ve encountered so far. Dial has a fine and faint streak/stain (not a scratch) near the 6 o’clock marker but otherwise exceptionally clean for this reference. Tritium lume plots intact and respond to UV correctly for age. Original Omega-signed crystal has microscopic marks not noticeable with the naked eye. Original signed crown. Minimal age spots on indices and hands. Long bracelet feels solid and robust with just the slightest stretch. Movement serviced with 6 months warranty and in top health with to-spec power reserve, high amplitude, very low beat error and accurate to ±5 secs/day averaged from 6 timegrapher positions.
