Omega Seamaster Silver Dial “Jumbo” Automatic Day-Date Ref. 166.032 (circa 1969)

WHY WE CURATED IT:
We tend to think of Seamasters as dive watches today. But “Seamaster” was once simply Omega’s moniker for water-resistant pieces. This is one such example: what was once a water-safe, robust, luxury daily. Considered “jumbo” sized back in the day, it wears with a sporty presence (although still relatively elegant by today’s standards) with thick robust lugs, extra-broad chamfers to catch the light and a radially brushed bezel to curb the bling and present more purposefully. The dial is grained with a sloping chapter ring at the edges for a bit of lovely shadow play, a polished frame for the day and date window and bold black-inlaid indices for exceptional legibility. Features the famed hippocampus relief on the caseback, a quickset date function, and a peak Omega automatic Calibre 752 (the same architecture as the chronometer-certified 751). An unsung Seamaster, presented to you serviced and warrantied.

CONDITION:
8.5/10, with some hairlines and micro-nicks. Case form intact, and possibly unpolished with sharp edges and finishing transitions. Dial, hands and indices are clean. Tritium lume plots intact and respond to UV correctly for age. Original signed crystal has some edge hairlines and stress marks but no impediment to a clear view of the dial. Original signed crown. New aftermarket strap and buckle. Movement serviced with 6 months warranty and excellent performance, with to-spec power reserve, high amplitude, low beat error and accurate to ±3 secs/day averaged from 6 timegrapher positions.
